I’m excited to share that I will be doing a two week residency at the New York Mills, Minnesota Cultural Center in May.  Two weeks to further my work, interact with the community and explore the area.  I plan to continue working with collage, photography, drawing and weaving while working to capture a new environment and a sense of place.

How does one plan for this sort of experience?  I’ve been looking at what others have done, guessing my best about colors and amounts of yarn and glue and paper- and of course, some real exciting things can happen when one is forced/allowed to think in new ways- be it due to subject matter or available materials.

I plan to share my preparations and the experience here, I hope you follow along!

I'm excited for you, too, Nan! You are such a gifted and intelligent artist, and I appreciate the opportunity to live your residency vicariously.
