MacGyvering

For those of you not old enough to recognize that term it’s from an old TV show: “The character’s knack for improvisation is so well-known that "to MacGyver" has become a verb in the English language, meaning to build or repair something in an improvised way using whatever is conveniently on hand. “.
While I planned and packed well for my residency, there has been much to MacGyver. And honestly, that sort of problem solving is something I enjoy. At home I rely on our color printer for a lot of things, including printing out photos to use as tapestry cartoons (a sort of road map). While I did not pack the printer, I have a used clothing pattern along and the tissue from that taped over my iPad worked perfectly, allowing me to trace my image and I sort of like the results just on their own. That same clothing pattern has been used in a few collage pieces and has worked really well for printmaking. Some people take duct tape where ever they go- I will never leave home without a Butterick sewing pattern.
I’m finding having to alter my process in similar ways has led to some interesting results and new ideas.
True to MN weather, next week is supposed to get really warm, a true contrast from this week!

Beautiful work! I wonder, would a McCall's pattern have the same results? : )
